Immanuel
God With Us
GETTING TO KNOW CHRIST AT A PERSONAL LEVEL
Immanuel, which means “God with us” in Hebrew, is a name that holds great significance in our world beyond both Jewish and Christian traditions. It is the title given to Jesus Christ, who is the son of God and the savior of the world. The name Immanuel is mentioned several times in the Bible, most notably in the book of Matthew, which refers to the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14 that “a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel.”
The name Immanuel is significant because it represents the ultimate act of love and grace by God towards humanity. According to Christian belief, Jesus Christ was born to a virgin mother, Mary, as the son of God. He lived a sinless life and taught about the love of God and the forgiveness of sins. His death on the cross is considered the ultimate sacrifice that paid the penalty for the sins of all humanity, and his resurrection from the dead is seen as proof of his divinity and the promise of eternal life for believers.
The concept of Immanuel, God with us, also reflects the belief that God is not a distant deity who is separate from his creation, but rather a God who is intimately involved in the lives of his people. In the person of Jesus Christ, God became human and experienced the joys and sorrows of human existence. He showed compassion to the sick and marginalized, he forgave sinners, and he taught his followers to love one another.
The idea of Immanuel, God with us, is not limited to the person of Jesus Christ. Christians believe that through the Holy Spirit, God is present with his people today, guiding them, comforting them, and empowering them to live lives that reflect the love and grace of God. The concept of Immanuel, therefore, is not just a historical or theological concept, but a personal and practical reality for believers.
In conclusion, the name Immanuel, God with us, represents the central belief of Christianity, that God became human in the person of Jesus Christ and through his death and resurrection, provided a way for humanity to be reconciled with God. It also reflects the ongoing presence of God through the Holy Spirit, who guides and empowers believers to live lives that honor God and serve others. The name Immanuel is a powerful reminder of God’s love, grace, and faithfulness towards his people, both in the past and in the present.
GETTING TO KNOW IMMANUEL (YESHUA) CHRIST JESUS PERSONALLY
Continuing to Christ is the extension of the unseen or invisible God, that’s why we respect him as such. Glory to him who leaves us with the greatest commandment Love. Not to judge each other, forgive each other nonstop, and be patient with each other for He knows everything we deem as important is meaningless.
Yes, His Name is the name above all names, and His star-breathing, storm-calming, miracle-working power is second to none. Yet, He is also the human Jesus, the personal friend who knows what we are going through and cares about us. That’s why the Bible also calls Him “Immanuel”, God with us.
